Commit/Drafted: Clemson
Age At Draft: 18
BA Grade: 50/Extreme
Tools: Hit: 45. Power: 55. Run: 50. Field: 50. Arm: 50.
A 6-foot-3, 205-pound third baseman, Harlan is a power-over-hit corner profile who has the tools to profile nicely at the hot corner, but he had an inconsistent summer showcase circuit and tinkers with his swing enough for scouts to wonder about his true hitting ability. He alternated between a low and high handset throughout the summer, but when he’s synced up his swing can look solid with impressive bat speed and strength that led to some of the best top-end exit velocities with a wood bat at the 2024 MLB Draft combine. Harlan will need to prove his pitch recognition against secondaries and he’ll also need to convince scouts that he has the requisite mobility to stick at third base. He’s an average runner and has fine hands and solid arm strength that could all fit the position, but he has added strength and mass and will need to maintain his quickness moving forward. Harlan is young for the class and turns 18 just before the draft which will be another point in his favor for teams excited about his physical tools and power potential. He’s committed to Clemson, but there’s a chance he gets taken in the 2-5 round range.

Age At Draft: 18.0
A 6-foot-3, 205-pound third baseman, Harlan is a power-over-hit corner profile who has the tools to profile nicely at the hot corner, but an up-and-down summer with the bat that might create some questions. His timing seemed a bit off throughout the summer and fall and he tinkered with his setup at the plate—alternating between a low handset with the bat starting on his shoulders in the summer and a high handset above his head in the fall—but he has flashed above-average raw power in batting practice with lots of impact potential when he’s timed up. Harlan will need to prove his pitch recognition against secondaries and he’ll also need to convince scouts he can has the requisite mobility to stick at third base at the next level, but those who have seen him at his best are excited about his offensive potential. Harlan is committed to Clemson.
