A good athlete and a plus runner in center field, Shelley turned in several defensive highlights during the travel ball circuit. He’s an instinctive defender who reads the ball well off the bat, accelerates quickly and takes crisp, efficient routes. He’s an above-average runner who ranges well to both gaps to and on balls hit over his head, with an above-average, accurate arm as well. At the plate, Shelley has an aggressive approach and there are some adjustments he might have to smooth out his swing, but he makes hard contact when he connects.
