Drafted in the 7th round (226th overall) by the Washington Nationals in 2013 (signed for $160,100).
View Draft Report
After a strong sophomore season and good performance in the Valley League last summer, when he ranked as the No. 5 prospect, Yezzo has put up monster numbers this spring. He ranked in the top 10 in the Colonial Athletic Association in average, doubles, hits, RBIs and slugging percentage through the end of the regular season, and he was batting .406/.451/.719 with 27 doubles and 13 home runs. Yezzo's value as a draft prospect is tied completely to his bat. He has a quick, short swing and can hit to all fields, so he offers good overall hitting ability to complement his power. He stands at 6 feet, 200 pounds and is well put together. He's an average defender at first base. His talent warrants him as an eighth- to 10th-round selection, but a shortage of college bats in the draft could push him up higher.
