Drafted in the 9th round (264th overall) by the Kansas City Royals in 2013 (signed for $5,000).

One of college baseball's hottest hitters at the start of the year, Rockett batted .553/.589/.936 in his first 12 games. But on March 4 he was arrested on a charge of burglary with intent to commit assault, a second-degree felony. Police said he punched a fellow student who was dating his former girlfriend, but the charges were dismissed when the other students declined to pursue the case. Rockett returned to action after being suspended for three weeks. He is the most potent hitter on a Roadrunners team that won the Western Athletic Conference tournament title. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder's best tool is his solid righthanded power, and he has a track record of hitting with wood in three seasons of summer ball. His long swing leads to strikeouts and will impede his ability to hit for average. Rockett is a fringe runner with good instincts on the basis and has the arm strength necessary for right field. He'll get an opportunity as a senior sign, though some clubs worry about his makeup. He's the younger brother of former UT-San Antonio star Michael Rockett, a 13th-round pick in 2009 who reached Triple-A in the Tigers system.
