Some scouts feel that UCLA’s Sanchez may not be standing up to the pressure of being a possible top pick. “His consistency is lacking,” said one. “Everything else is there. I think once he gets used to 15-20 ray guns being pointed at him every game, he’ll be all right.” One scouting director drew an analogy on Sanchez to Oklahoma’s Jack Armstrong, who many felt was the one pitcher hurt most by the pressure of being a possible No. 1 pick a year ago.
