Santiago has teamed with Touki Toussaint to create one of the top high school batteries in the country, garnering valuable looks from high-level evaluators. The son of the longtime big leaguer, Santiago has a strong, compact build at 5-foot-9, 166 pounds with athleticism. He has above-average pure arm strength behind the plate while showing blocking ability and leadership traits. Developing his receiving skills will be the key to remaining behind the plate. Santiago is athletic for the position and has below-average speed out of the box, though he's better under way. The lefthanded-hitting Santiago has a line-drive stroke and some bat speed, though scouts hoped to see more from him offensively this spring. He is adept at going up the middle and to the opposite field with an inside-out stroke. His body and swing path limit him to below-average power. The 19-year-old is old for the class and is committed to Tennessee.
