Davis backed up as a senior, in terms of command and sharpness. He was a top 200-caliber prospect at times as a junior thanks to a mid-90s fastball (albeit on a flat plane) and a hard, above-average curveball.

A strongly-built 6-foot, 200 pounder, Davis may be shorter than his listed size but has arm strength and some track record. He pitched in varied roles for the Trojans this spring, helping lead them to their first regional berth since 2005. He's a bulldog who has started and closed and fits better as a future reliever. He was slowed by what was reported as an ankle injury in the offseason from a pickup basketball game, but still was USC's saves leader even though he made a late move to the rotation. He thrived in that role as well, throwing a complete game shutout against Stanford with 10 strikeouts. His best pitch is his curveball, which sits at 78-81, nudging higher at times, with power and depth. His changeup and slider are both solid-average pitches, as is his 89-92 mph fastball. His athleticism helps him repeat his delivery, though he could use better pitch sequencing and efficiency. Davis has a starter's four-pitch mix with a reliever's size and mindset. He's a future reliever but could move quickly thanks to his curve, one of the best in the college class.
