McGeorge pitched just three games as a freshman and got just two outs, but he became a first-team all-Big West performer as a junior, when he posted a 1.02 ERA and saved five games for Long Beach State. McGeorge throws a lot of strikes both with a fringe-average 88-91 fastball that bumps higher on occasion and a slider that some scouts graded as a 70 pitch on the 20-80 scale, with depth and late action at up to 81-83 mph. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder has great feel for the slider from his low three-quarters slot and keeps the ball down with both pitches; he never allowed a home run as a Dirtbag.
