Track Record: Marlowe set Division II West Georgia's single-season and career stolen base records and signed with the Mariners for $5,000 as a 20th-round senior sign in 2019. Expected to be organizational depth, Marlowe instead showed some of the best tools and physicality in the system and had a breakout season across the Class A levels in 2021. He proved it wasn't a fluke in 2022, posting his second consecutive season with at least 20 doubles, 20 home runs, 100 RBIs and 20 stolen bases as he rose from Double-A to Triple-A. The Mariners added him to the taxi squad on their Wild Card Series roster after the season.
Scouting Report: Marlowe is a strong, athletic lefthanded hitter with impact tools despite being old for a prospect. He has above-average power and drives balls to the middle of the field to rack up doubles and homers. He makes loud contact when he connects and is a threat on the bases with his plus speed and sharp base-stealing acumen. Marlowe has decent strike-zone discipline, but his swing is stiff and he whiffs in the zone too often. His strength and discipline give him a chance to be a below-average hitter, but he'll likely struggle against better arms. Marlowe's speed and instincts make him an above-average defender at all three outfield positions. He has an elite work ethic and is extremely intelligent – he planned to go to medical school before being drafted.
The Future: Marlowe's speed, strength and ability to play all three outfield spots give him a chance to stick as a reserve outfielder. His major league debut should come in 2023.

Track Record: Marlowe started all four years at Division II West Georgia and set the program’s single-season and career stolen base records. The Mariners drafted him in the 20th round in 2019 and signed him for $5,000. Seattle’s front office analysts highlighted Marlowe as a breakout candidate before the 2021 season, and he loudly lived up to that prediction. Marlowe led the minor leagues with 107 RBIs as he advanced from Low-A Modesto to High-A Everett and was the only player in the minors to record at least 20 doubles, 10 triples, 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases.
Scouting Report: Marlowe has plus speed, is an above-average defender in the outfield and has plus raw power he gets to in games. He makes loud contact when he connects and has the combination of speed and strength to rack up extra-base hits. Marlowe has a sound approach and controls the strike zone, but he is prone to swinging and missing in the zone. Some are optimistic he’ll make adjustments, but others fear he’ll struggle to make contact against better pitching. Marlowe is very smart and has an elite work ethic. He had a 3.87 GPA as a pre-med/biology major and planned to be a doctor before he was drafted.
The Future: Marlowe will move to Double-A in 2022. It will be a prime chance for him to prove he can hit age-appropriate pitching.

Marlowe has been old for his levels this year at Low-A Modesto and High-A Everett, but he's shown enough for evaluators to consider him a future major leaguer regardless. He has one of the best approaches in the organization, crushes mistakes with his above-average power from the left side and has shown plus speed and defense in the outfield.
