In Kennedy and sophomore Zack Collins, a collegiate national team alum and likely high pick in the 2016 draft, Miami has enviable depth behind the plate. While Kennedy entered this season with a career batting average of .233 and a reputation as a glove-first catcher, he has had an excellent season at the plate this spring and set career highs in every meaningful offensive category. He has good strike-zone judgement and provides some lefthanded power. Defensively, he remains a polished receiver and controls the running game well thanks to his quick transfer and average, accurate arm. Kennedy's breakout season offensively hasn't completely changed the way scouts view him, but it has made him more intriguing as a senior sign.
