  The Marlins signed 25 players in the 2014 international signing period and Castro was one of seven to get a seven-figure bonus. Castro, who was 17 when he signed, got $150,000. He is a quick-twitch athlete with a short, compact stroke. He sprays the ball but is presently a well below-average hitter. He does have good feel for the barrel, which portends well for improvement, though his power is below-average. Castro is an above-average fielder at shortstop and second base and he does have good range but tends to rush his actions. He has a plus arm that allows him to make the longer throw from shortstop. He's an instinctive player and athletic. He's an above-average runner and a sparkplug type. He profiles as a utility player, with good energy, but if his bat shows improvement could be a second-division starter at second base.
