He's also shown average power as well with the ability to turn on a pitch if a pitcher tries to challenge him inside. Alvarez is an average runner. He played third base for Eastern Kentucky and he's fringy there with an average arm and playable hands, but he profiles better as a pro at second base, where he played earlier in his college career.
