Helton had an up-and-down spring for the Utes. He began his college career as a two-way player, but gave up hitting to focus on pitching this season. Helton was effective early in the season as Utah's Friday night starter before taking a significant tumble at the start of Pac-12 Conference play. He rediscovered his solid stuff in the bullpen, and by May was back in the number one starter role and pitching better than ever. Helton delivers his fastball in the 93-94 mph range, complimenting the heater with a cutter and curveball combination. The late season revival could push Helton into the top 10 rounds.
