View Draft Report
A three-year starter for the Highlanders, Boyle's command of the strike zone took major steps forward this spring. The southpaw pitches in the upper 80s with his fastball, though he can reach into the low 90s on the right day. He commands his heater to both sides of the plate, and this spring he showed the ability to get swinging strikes just above hitters' hands. Boyle's best offspeed pitch is his late-breaking curveball, which receives above-average grades when he's on top of it. Boyle pounds hitters down and away with his changeup, and the pitch often generates poor contact. He can sometimes get underneath his breaking ball, which is an issue he will have to correct to develop into a solid back of the rotation starter. Boyle is 6-foot-2 with wide shoulders and strength in his core. The team that takes Boyle will have to believe in his ability to remain a starter.
