Draft Prospects
Kay scored the Junior College World Series-winning run for Iowa Western last year and has batted .406/.500/.691 and .381/.447/.619 in two seasons with the Reivers. He posted similar numbers with wood in the New England Collegiate League last summer. A righthanded hitter, he drills line drives from gap to gap and has surprising pop for a 6-foot, 180-pounder. Kay ran a 6.45-second 60-yard dash on scout day in the fall, though he wasn't as quick this spring after missing the first part of the season following arthroscopic knee surgery. With his quickness, average arm strength and high baseball IQ, he's a versatile defender who can play almost anywhere on the diamond. Kay profiles best as an offensive second baseman, though he may play third base for Louisville next year if he doesn't turn pro.
