Arrighetti began his college career at Texas Christian, transferred to Navarro (Texas) JC and ended up at Louisiana Lafayette. Wherever he’s gone, he has demonstrated that he knows how to pitch and compete. Scouts may wish that he threw a little harder—he sits 89-91 mph and tops out at 92-93 mph. And maybe they would like to see more power for his above-average slider, but Arrighetti was lights out at his best in a very productive first season with Louisiana Lafayette. Arrighetti also throws a 12-to-6 fringe-average curve and a fringe-average changeup. He was sensational in the first month and a half of the season, posting a 0.90 ERA after his first seven outings. He tailed off from there, finishing the season 6-2, 3.12 with 9.8 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9.

BA Grade: 50/High
Track Record: Arrighetti had a well-traveled collegiate career. He attended three schools in three seasons. After stints at Texas Christian in 2019 and navarro (Texas) JC, Arrighetti spent his 2021 season with Louisiana-Lafayette, earning the Friday night starter role. The Astros drafted Arrighetti in the sixth round in 2021 and signed him for $147,800. He spent the 2022 season primarily at High-A Asheville and saw a late-season promotion to Double-A Corpus Christi. Arrighetti began 2023 at Corpus Christi and made 13 appearances before he was promoted to Triple-A Sugar Land in late June. As the organization’s top bat-missing pitching prospect with Triple-A time, Arrighetti was honored with the Astros’ minor league pitcher of the year award.
Scouting Report: Arrighetti has gotten the most out of his high-effort mechanics by relying on his athleticism to make it work. Arrighetti uses a four-seam fastball, slider, curveball and changeup. His fastball sits 92-93 mph and touches 94 mph with a flat vertical approach angle that makes it difficult for hitters to get on plane with the pitch. Arrighetti’s primary secondary pitch is a low-80s sweeper slider that is his go-to pitch when ahead in the count. His changeup sits 85-86 mph and is his most-used secondary against lefthanded hitters. His curveball is a clear fourth pitch. It’s a mid-to-high-70s two-plane breaking ball that is an effective bat-misser. Arrighetti has fringe-average command across his arsenal but has a tendency to walk too many batters.
The Future: Arrighetti is positioned to get an opportunity in Houston as a depth starter in the next few seasons. Long term, he projects as a back-end starter with enough command lapses to limit his upside.

Track Record: Arrighetti spent three seasons at three different colleges. He started at Texas Christian in 2019, moved to Navarro (Texas) JC in 2020 and spent his junior season in 2021 as Louisiana-Lafayette's Friday night starter. The Astros drafted Arrighetti in the sixth round in 2021 and signed him for $147,800. Assigned to High-A Asheville out of spring training in 2022, Arrighetti made 22 appearances and struck out 124 batters in 85.2 innings but struggled with his command. He was promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi in late August and made six appearances.
Scouting Report: Arrighetti is a high-effort and athletic pitcher who moves rapidly on the mound. He gets downhill in his extreme drop-and-drive delivery at a frenetic pace. His operation features a late, deceptive hand break, a long arm action that gives way to whippy arm speed delivering the ball from a true three-quarters slot. Arrighetti's deception and ability to get downhill allow his four-pitch mix to play up. His arsenal is led by a mid-90s four-seam fastball that sits 93-94 mph and touches 96-97 with a flat vertical approach angle and hoppy shape. He pairs that primarily with a sweepy, low-to-mid-80s slider that is his best bat-missing pitch. He blends in a curveball in the high 70s as his third pitch. It shows two-plane break and more depth than his slider. Arrighetti throws a changeup to lefthanded batters that will flash good tumble and fade, but he struggles to command it consistently. His strike-throwing is below-average, but he showed improvements in that area throughout 2022.
The Future: Arrighetti has the deep arsenal of a starter, but his fringy command may push him to the bullpen, where his fastball/slider combination should play up.
Scouting Grades: Fastball: 55. Slider: 60. Curveball: 50. Changeup: 40. Control: 45

Track Record: Arrighetti spent his three collegiate seasons at three different schools. He played his freshman campaign at TCU before transferring to Navarro (Texas) JC in 2020 and spending his junior season as Louisiana-Lafayette's Friday night starter. The Astros drafted him in the sixth round of the 2021 draft and limited his appearances in 2021 to six games across the Rookie-level and Low-A. Arrighetti was assigned to High-A Asheville out of camp this spring.
Scouting Report: Armed with a four-pitch repertoire, Arrighetti's pitch-mix is centered around his above-average four-seam fastball. The heater sits 93-94 mph, touching 98 mph at peak with late life and heavy ride. It checks several analytically-focused boxes with a flatter vertical approach angle, above-average induced vertical break and a low release height. Arrighetti is also in the upper-echelon when it comes to extension, getting nearly 7 feet on average. He pairs his fastball with a sweepy slider in the low-to-mid 80s with heavy horizontal break and raw spin rates in the 2,500-2,600 rpm range. Against lefthanded batters he pockets the slider for a duo of secondaries, instead throwing a curveball at 78-80 mph with two-plane break and more downward movement than his slider and a mid-80s changeup he's still honing his feel for. It's a starter's pitch mix with unique fastball traits, two distinctive breaking balls and split-specific sequencing. While Arrighetti shows average command, his ability to land his curveball and changeup with consistency lead to some walk issues.
The Future: Arrighetti has the stuff and deep pitch mix to project as a starter long term. Whether he develops into a back-of-the-rotation starter role long term will depend on the development of his command. Scouting Grades: Fastball: 55. Slider: 55. Curveball: 50. Changeup: 45 -
If the Astros can help Arrighetti, a crafty righthander with four pitches, find some additional velocity in pro ball, he could fly up this list.
