Noot is a long-time staple of the showcase circuit and pitched in the Perfect Game All-America Classic at Petco Park last summer. He lived up to his marquee billing as Sierra Canyon (Calif.) High’s ace this spring with a two-hit shutout at the Boras Classic and led the Trailblazers to a league title. Noot is a physically imposing 6-foot-4, 235-pound righthander with some of the best arm strength in the draft class. His fastball sits 92-95 mph, touches 97 and plays up with hard, running life. He holds his velocity deep into starts and stays off of barrels to induce weak ground balls. Noot’s slurvy, 74-78 mph breaking ball flashes average but is inconsistent, and he often has to take velocity off to land it in the strike zone. His low-80s changeup cuts late under barrels and is an average offering the limited times he throws it. Noot throws everything for strikes and has above-average control, but his short stride and upright delivery create relief risk. He is physically maxed out with little room for projection. Even with those concerns, Noot’s pure arm strength still has teams interested if he’s signable. He is committed to Louisiana State.
