Luis De Avila, RHP, Braves: The hottest pitcher in the Southern League is De Avila. He extended his hitless streak to 11 innings with six hitless innings against Tennessee. De Avila threw five hitless innings against Chattanooga in his previous start.
Michael Busch, 3B, Dodgers: Busch homered twice on Sunday as part of a three-hit game, giving him eight home runs this month. Busch has been playing third base exclusively this month. That hasn’t always been easy. He committed his 11th error in just 38 games at third this year, lowering his fielding percentage at third to .894.
Michael Antico, CF, Cardinals: Antico went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run and a stolen base on Sunday. He fell a triple short of the cycle.
Bubba Chandler, RHP, Pirates: Chandler has struggled at times this year, but the righthander is currently working on the best stretch of his season. He allowed one hit and one walk while striking out six in five scoreless innings on Sunday. He threw 5.2 scoreless innings in his previous start. In his previous 16 starts this year, he had one scoreless outing.
Ty Madden, RHP, Tigers: Madden tied his season high with 10 strikeouts against Binghamton. Madden allowed a solo home run to Augustin Ruiz, but was otherwise unblemished. That was the first run Madden has allowed this month. He has a 0.61 ERA in July.
Wikelman Gonzalez, Brendan Cellucci and Luis Guerrero, Red Sox: Gonzalez threw six innings, Cellucci threw two and Guerrero threw the final inning as the trio threw the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs’ second no-hitter of the season and seventh in franchise history.
