A potential performance pick, Cooper had two consistent seasons for Hawaii after pitching well for Bellevue (Wash.) CC for two seasons. He's not quite as big as his listed 6-foot, 180-pounds and he pounds the strike zone with fringe-average stuff. He has to be precise because he pitches with a below-average 86-88 mph fastball that scrapes 90, but he usually locates very well. He pitches backward with his average curveball and changeup and throws both for strikes. Cooper thrived as a senior, posting a 1.60 ERA and 106-28 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 107 innings.
