View Draft Report
A product of El Toro High in Lake Forest, Calif., Brashears pitched two seasons at Saddleback (Calif.) JC before transferring to Hawaii. He was used as a reliever for part of his sophomore year but wound up being Hawaii's ace as a junior, tying for first in the Big West Conference in wins and second in ERA. He's a low-three-quarters slinger who throws a lot of strikes with fringe-average to average stuff. His fastball has decent sink in the upper 80s and touches 92 mph regularly, and he throws a sinking changeup and curveball that he can land for strikes. He walked just 19 in 102 innings and his loose arm held up this season despite a slender 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame.
