View Draft Report
Praytor is an offensive-oriented catcher with above-average raw power and solid bat-to-ball skills that allow him to get to most of that. He hit 14 home runs this spring with Alabama and posted a .277/.375/.531 line, and was off to a strong start offensively in the shortened 2020 season as well. He has impressive bat speed and sprays line drives all over the field with a simple swing. There are questions about his defensive ability thanks to his size (5-foot-10, 205 pounds) and some stiffness that could create challenges with blocking but he does have a solid-average arm with a quick release.

Praytor was an Under Armour All-American in 2016. He's a strong, stoutly-built catcher with the tools to do damage offensively as well. Praytor has loose wrists and a compact righthanded stroke, and some evaluators believe he could develop into an above-average hitter. He has quick hands and a strong, balanced swing, and shows average raw power. Praytor is light on his feet and has soft hands behind the plate, but his thick lower half gives scouts pause about whether or not he'll slow down and stiffen up as he ages. He's committed to Alabama.
