BA Grade: 45/High
Tools: Fastball: 50. Slider: 45. Curveball: 40. Changeup: 60. Control: 45.
Robinson ranked as the No. 490 prospect on the BA 500 as a Virginia high schooler in 2021, when he showed flashes of potential but plenty of inconsistency. Robinson began his career as a reliever with Texas Tech, then made a handful of starts in 2023 and pitched for USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team during the summer. Scouts at the time remarked about his smooth delivery and control. Robinson moved into a starting role this spring and posted a 5.09 ERA over 76 innings with a 22.7% strikeout rate and 10.9% walk rate. Listed at 6-foot-6, 210 pounds, Robinson throws from a high three-quarters slot with heavy crossfire action and sits 90-94 mph with a fastball that will touch 96. He has solid carry on his fastball, but a high release point and below-average extension muddy the pitch’s characteristics. His go-to secondary is a mid-80s changeup that crushes lefties and is effective to righties as well. It has earned plus grades and features solid armside fading life that generates whiffs and weak groundball contact. Robinson throws a low-80s slider that is featured more in right-on-right matchups and is his best breaking pitch. He also mixes in a slower curveball that is a distinct fourth pitch. Robinson is a fringy strike-thrower with a chance to start but also has reliever risk.

Robinson ranked as the No. 490 prospect on the BA 500 in 2021 as a high schooler, where he showed flashes of potential but plenty of inconsistency. He’s had a fine college career in two years with Texas Tech, where he’s posted a 5.21 ERA in 57 innings with a 22% strikeout rate and 9.8% walk rate. Most of his innings have come out of the bullpen, though he did make five starts in the 2023 season. Robinson pitched with Team USA during the 2023 summer, where he impressed scouts with his smooth delivery and above-average control—though he got hit around at times. A 6-foot-6, 210-pound righthander, Robinson averaged 92-94 mph last spring and has been up to 96. He works off a plus, mid-80s changeup as his go-to secondary and used the pitch to generate a 40% miss rate and .554 opponent OPS last spring. Robinson will also throw a low-80s slider and mid-70s curveball, with the slider being the better of the two breaking pitches.
