Schiefer is a 6-foot-3, 175-pound righthander who pitched one season with Grand Canyon and one with Central Arizona JC before moving to Arizona State for the 2024 season. He’s been a high-usage multi-inning reliever this spring and pitched to a 3.83 ERA in 23 appearances and 42.1 innings with a 24.7% strikeout rate and 15.8% walk rate. He throws a 90-95 mph fastball that gets solid riding life with a flat approach angle and backs the pitch with a low-80s changeup and low-80s slider that both generated miss rates above 40%. He’s a well below-average strike thrower who will need to get his pitches over the plate more often in pro ball.
