Lean and lanky at 6-foot-5, 180 pounds, Meyer was Minnesota's best pitcher this season, though he pitched on Saturdays in deference to senior Alec Crawford. Meyer throws downhill, using his height and the sink on his 88-90 mph fastball to keep hitters from elevating the ball. He has some arm-side run at times as well and isn't afraid to pitch inside; he's hit 25 batters the last two seasons. His slider and changeup also are better when they are down in the strike zone. He doesn't change hitters' eye level much, relying on his defense as he tries to induce ground balls.
