Coppola took the mound for the first time in two years this spring and while he showed flashes of what made him a highly touted prospect in high school, the towering lefthander will return to Florida in 2025 after not getting drafted. As always, the key for Coppola is staying healthy. Coppola’s 2024 BA 500 scouting report read: "Coppola was a top-100 prospect coming out of high school thanks to a towering frame, diverse pitch mix and standout body control. He made it to campus at Florida, where he has been limited by back and shoulder injuries, and threw just 28 innings in the past three seasons. Now listed at 6-foot-8, 255 pounds, Coppola started eight games for the Gators this spring and posted an 8.75 ERA over 23.2 innings with a 31.3% strikeout rate and 10.7% walk rate. He averaged 92-93 mph with a fastball that touched 96 and used a low-80s short-breaking slider as his primary secondary pitch—which generated a 40% miss rate. He also has a mid-80s changeup." -
