Signed as a teenager for $3,000, Castillo slowly has blossomed into a prospect. Sent home for violating team rules midway through the 2000 season, he bounced back with his best year yet, leading Kane County in wins, starts, innings and strikeouts. He pitches at 90-92 mph with good life, topping out at 94, and gets lots of ground balls with his sinker. He shows a plus curve with good depth and late break. His changeup is solid for this stage. Castillo has allowed more hits than innings in all six of his pro seasons, but his supporters say that's because he's around the plate so much. Castillo has a tall, lean frame and a loweffort delivery. His makeup remains a question, as he gets moody at times and can be hard to read, but most believe he is a good person at heart. He might be higher on this list if he were a year or two younger.
