It's rare for a 49th-round draft pick to develop into a prospect, but Meadows appears to be an exception. Since signing for $11,000, he has reached Triple-A thanks to a changeup that ranks as the best in the Brewers system. His changeup helps him baffle righthanders, whom he limited to a .182 average in 2011. Meadows' fastball maxes out in the high 80s but he knows how to command it to all four quadrants of the zone. He does a good job of keeping his fastball in on hitters' hands and using it to set up his changeup. His third pitch is a mediocre slurve. After dominating at Double-A last year, Meadows wasn't as effective in Triple-A but managed to hold his own. Afterward, Milwaukee sent him to the Arizona Fall League, where he pitched well until giving up seven runs in his final three outings. Meadows throws strikes and his success against righthanders gives him a future as more than a situational lefthander, possibly even as a swingman. He'll return to Triple-A to begin 2012.
