Prospect Report: Bryce Miller Returns To Dominance For Mariners

Bryce Miller, RHP, Mariners: Miller pitched six innings with one hit and one run allowed, three walks and six strikeouts to lead the Mariners to an 8-1 win over the Marlins on Monday. The 24-year-old righthander took a no-hitter into the fifth inning until he allowed a solo home run to Nick Fortes, the only hit and run he allowed in the game. It was a bounceback performance after he got shelled for 19 hits and 15 runs over seven innings in his last two starts. Miller is now 4-3, 4.06 in eight starts since being called up from Double-A Arkansas.

Corbin Carroll, OF, D-backs: Fresh off being named National League player of the week, Carroll went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI in the D-backs’ 9-5 win over the Phillies. He delivered the game-tying RBI triple in the fourth inning as the D-backs rallied from an early 5-1 deficit and now has multiple hits in four of his last five games. The prohibitive NL Rookie of the Year award favorite, Carroll is batting .313 with 13 home runs, 34 RBIs, 26 stolen bases and a .986 OPS in 63 games.

Matthew Liberatore, LHP, Cardinals: Liberatore delivered a quality start with six innings and two runs allowed in the Cardinals’ 4-3 loss to the Giants. The 23-year-old lefthander allowed seven hits, walked two and hit a batter, but he made big pitches in big spots to limit the damage. He stranded runners on base in every inning and departed with a 3-2 lead before getting stuck with a no-decision.

Sam Bachman, RHP, Angels: Bachman pitched two scoreless innings of relief to pick up his first career win in the Angels’ 9-6 victory over the Rangers in 12 innings. The 2021 first-rounder got out of a tense two-out, one-on jam in the 10th inning to preserve the tie and, with two on and no outs in the 11th, retired the heart of the Rangers order to set the stage for Shohei Ohtani’s go-ahead homer the following inning. Bachman is now 1-0, 0.90 in six relief appearances since being recalled from Double-A Rocket City and is getting increased opportunities in high-leverage situations.
