Team USA will defend its World Baseball Classic title with a star-studded roster.
The United States announced its 2023 WBC roster on Thursday, led by three-time American League MVP and team captain Mike Trout. This marks the first time Trout will participate in the WBC in his career.
Trout will be joined by reigning National League MVP Paul Goldschmidt, Mookie Betts, Nolan Arenado, Pete Alonso, J.T. Realmuto, Trea Turner and Tim Anderson, among others, in arguably the tournament’s best lineup.
Veteran righthanders Adam Wainwright and Lance Lynn headline the starting rotation, while veteran closers Daniel Bard and Ryan Pressly join young standouts David Bednar and Devin Williams to lead the bullpen.
The team will be managed by former major league infielder Mark DeRosa.
Update: Dodgers lefthander Clayton Kershaw and Yankees lefthander Nestor Cortes have pulled out of the tournament and been removed from the roster. They have been replaced by Padres righthander Nick Martinez and Rockies lefthander Kyle Freeland.
