Prospect Report: Bryan Woo Hurls Another Scoreless Outing
Bryan Woo, RHP, Mariners: The Mariners righthander continues to dominate the Fall League, putting a figurative cherry on top of his breakout 2022 season. Woo went three scoreless Wednesday, allowing a single hit, two walks and five strikeouts. He’s allowed a single run this fall and just nine hitters to reach base across 10.2 innings. Woo was sitting 94-96 mph yesterday afternoon, mixing in a high-80s changeup and a mid-80s slider.
Hagen Danner, RHP, Blue Jays: After converting to pitching full time prior to the 2020 pandemic shutdown, Danner has since developed into one of the better power relievers in the Blue Jays system. Yesterday Danner was electric in his inning of work, as he struck out two of the three batters he faced while working a clean seventh for Salt River. Danner sat in the high 90s on his fastball and broke off a few mid-to-high-70s breaking balls with late dump. If Danner can stay healthy he has a legitimate shot to make the Blue Jays bullpen next summer.
Austin Martin, SS, Twins: After a difficult 2022 season, Martin has turned a corner out in Arizona. On Wednesday night, Martin went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored as he was the only Glendale hitter that crossed the plate. After the three-hit performance Martin is now hitting .380/.464/.507 and is second in the AFL in hits behind the Orioles’ Heston Kjerstad.
Will Wagner, 3B, Astros: After a breakout 2022 season, Wagner has been one of the top hitters in the Fall League as well. He’s hitting .349/.464/.721 and leads the AFL in slugging. Last night Wagner connected for what proved to be the game-winning home run, as he took Francis Peguero deep to right field for a solo shot. Wagner is a classic Astros development story, a late-round pick with advanced bat-to-ball skills and plate discipline that’s slowly started to add impact. He’s arguably the top breakout prospect of this year’s AFL.
