The 2022 National High School Invitational began on Wednesday, with games all day starting at 10 a.m. The annual tournament—which hadn’t taken place since 2019 due to the pandemic—features some of the best high school teams from across the country in a tournament at the USA Baseball complex in Cary, N.C.

The finale of the opening day pitted Buford (Ga.) vs. Don Bosco Prep, which plays in New Jersey. The pitching matchup was the most highly anticipated moment of the day because it featured a pair of highly regarded pitching prospects in Buford ace Dylan Lesko—the top pitching prospect in the country and No. 6 overall on BA’s ranking of the best 200 prospects—and Don Bosco righty Caden Dana, who checks in at No. 108 overall.
