2021 Kansas City Royals Instructional League Roster
The Royals’ instructional league group is led by some of their recent high-round draftees and international signings with plenty of upside. The pitchers are headed up by lefty Frank Mozzicato, who was somewhat of a surprise pick in the first round of the most recent draft. Mozzicato is joined by the Royals’ next six picks, from second-rounder Ben Kudrna to sixth-rounder Dayton Dooney.
Taking it back a year, the Royals also invited three of their six picks from 2020: righthander Ben Hernandez, outfielder Tyler Gentry and lefty Christian Chamberlain.
The Royals’ instructional league outfielders are led by a pair of intriguing players in Erick Peña and Darryl Collins. The former was KC’s highest-profile signing in the 2019 international class whose first crack at a pro debut was wiped out by the pandemic. The latter started to make noise last year at this time and paid it off with a fine season at Low-A Columbia.
