Ashley Bratcher Named USA Baseball 18U National Team General Manager
After 12 years in an array of roles for USA Baseball, organizational mainstay Ashley Bratcher has been named the general manager of the 18U national team program.
Getting her start with USA Baseball in 2009, Bratcher began as an operations intern. It didn’t take long for her to be promoted to director of operations, then she became director of national team development programs and the women’s national team, followed by being named senior director of baseball operations before being elevated into her latest role. In the role, Bratcher will manage all aspects of the 18U national team program, including the 16U and 17U development programs and the Prospect Development Pipeline, in addition to continuing to oversee the baseball operations department.
“I am extremely honored to be named the general manager for the 18U national team,” Bratcher said in a USA Baseball press release. “I have had a host of tremendous opportunities throughout my career at USA Baseball that have prepared me for this new role. I look forward to calling upon those experiences and the relationships I have cultivated over the past 12 years to sustain and build upon the successful history of the 18U program.”
USA Baseball’s 18U squad is the winner of eight world championships dating back to 1988. The program has 13 gold medals, and won eight straight between 2011 and 2018. Seventy-one alumni have been selected in the first round of the draft since 2010.
“It is an exciting time for USA Baseball,” USA Baseball executive director and CEO Paul Seiler said in a release. “And that stems from naming Ashley Bratcher as the General Manager for our 18U National Team. Ashley is eminently qualified for this position. She is highly knowledgeable and very well respected within the game of baseball, and we are incredibly excited for her to take responsibility and ownership of this program. We know she will do a great job representing our 18U National Team and our nation on the international stage.”
Bratcher will be at the helm when the 18U national team competes on home soil in September, when the United States hosts the World Baseball Softball Confederation’s U18 World Cup for the first time since 1995. The event is set to take place between Sept. 10-19 in Florida, with games being played in Bradenton and Sarasota.
