They start by discussing Florida’s big home series win over Mississippi, which featured coach Kevin O’Sullivan using a tandem starter system for each of the first two days of the weekend with mixed success. It worked like a charm on Thursday with the duo of Franco Aleman and Tommy Mace in a 4-1 UF win, but was less effective the next day with Christian Scott and Jack Leftwich in an 8-2 loss. But a Saturday victory when lefthander Hunter Barco was better than Ole Miss’ Derek Diamond secured the series victory, and pitching usage for the Gators is definitely something to watch moving forward.

Next, they discussed the rivalry series win for Arizona over Arizona State. The ASU pitching staff somewhat limited the mighty Arizona offense, but it wasn’t enough and the Wildcats came away with the first two games of the series. It’s important, though, that the Sun Devils fought back to win the series finale, as it not only prevented them from being swept, but that will also be a valuable win to have on the resume.

The state of the Big 12 is also a discussion point after Texas Tech lost a road series to Kansas State, while Texas and Texas Christian kept on rolling against a relatively soft portion of the conference schedule. A series in Lubbock this weekend between the Red Raiders and Horned Frogs looms large.

The ACC continues to be a hot topic, with its weekly round of unpredictable results. As interesting as the top of the league might be, the bottom of the league, where it still seems somewhat likely that one out of the group of Boston College, Virginia, Duke, North Carolina State or Wake Forest still has a run left in it, is just as fascinating.

The American Athletic Conference began league play last weekend, and the hosts spend some time on the goings on there, including East Carolina sweeping four games against Cincinnati and Wichita State winning three of four on the road against Houston.
