Arizona Diamondbacks
—Diamondbacks No. 1 prospect Daulton Varsho made his major league debut in a pinch-hit at-bat in the team’s loss to the Dodgers. The catcher/outfielder walked on six pitches just hours after receiving a promotion to the major leagues.
Baltimore Orioles
—Orioles No. 5 prospect Austin Hays reached base twice in the team’s loss to the Yankees. The center fielder collected his third hit of the year, walked once and stole a base in the second inning.
Cleveland Indians
—Indians No. 18 prospect James Karinchak earned the first save of his career in the team’s win over the Twins. The righthander pitched a scoreless inning, striking out one batter while sitting 96 mph on his fastball. Karinchak has appeared in three games this season, pitching four scoreless innings, allowing no hits, walking two batters and striking out five hitters.
Detroit Tigers
—Tigers rookie Kyle Funkhouser made his second appearance of the season, pitching a scoreless inning, allowing a hit and striking out one in the team’s loss to the Royals. Funkhouser in his first big league appearance on July 27 allowed four runs on five hits while walking two hitters in a loss to the Royals.
Kansas City Royals
—Royals No. 5 prospect Brady Singer on Thursday made his second career start, pitching five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, walking two and striking out three. Singer sat 93-96 mph on his fastball while mixing in his changeup and slider. The righthander on July 25 made his major league debut, pitching five innings of two-run ball, allowing three hits, walking two and striking out seven. Singer has struck out 10 batters in 10 innings and pitched to a 3.60 ERA.
Minnesota Twins
—Twins No. 17 prospect Lewis Thorpe made his second appearance of the season, pitching two scoreless innings in the team’s loss to the Indians. The lefthander pitched to a 3-2, 6.18 mark in 27.2 innings in 2019.
New York Mets
—One day after collecting the first hits of his major league career, Andres Gimenez in the team’s loss to the Red Sox entered the game in the seventh inning as a pinch runner and stole the first base of his career. The Mets No. 6 prospect stole 28 bases in 2019 at Double-A Binghamton.
San Diego Padres
—Padres No. 14 prospect Edward Olivares was hitless in five at-bats, striking out four times in the Padres win over the Giants.
San Francisco Giants
—Giants rookie Caleb Baragar on Thursday pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out two hitters in the team’s loss to the Padres. The lefthander, who made his major league debut on July 25 and won in his first appearance, sat 92-94 mph on his fastball while occasionally mixing in his breaking ball.
Seattle Mariners
—Over at the Mariners alternate training site in Tacoma, Wash., Noelvi Marte showed off the talent that made him one of the best teenagers in summer camp. The Mariners No. 6 prospect on Thursday belted a two-run home run to left-center field during an intrasquad game. Marte, a shortstop, was ranked the No. 1 prospect in the Dominican Summer League in 2019 following a campaign where he hit .309/.371/.511 with nine home runs and 17 stolen bases in 65 games.
—Tim Lopes on Thursday collected a hit in his fifth straight game in the team’s win over the Angels, going 1-for-5 with a single in the ninth inning to extend his hit streak. The 26-year-old outfielder later scored on a Kyle Lewis single. Lopes is 8-for-22 with a home run, two RBIs and five runs scored.
—Kyle Lewis extended his hit streak to start the season to seven games, going 2-for-5 with a two-run single in the ninth inning in the team’s win over the Angels. Lewis has contributed multiple hits in five consecutive games, and is hitting 13-for-29 (.448) with two home runs and seven RBIs.

Washington Nationals
—Carter Kieboom on Thursday added to his solid start to the season by reaching base four times and scoring twice in the team’s win over the Blue Jays. The Nationals No. 1 prospect collected two singles and walked twice while starting at third base and is now 4-for-9 on the season.
