The start of the Major League Baseball season is less than a week away, which means summer camp is in full swing. That means there is plenty of time for prospects to compete in intrasquad and exhibition games. Each day during the week we will be providing a roundup from summer camp that includes highlights, debuts of 2020 draftees and more.

Baltimore Orioles

—Orioles’ No. 4 prospect Austin Hays Saturday blasted a home run to left field during the team’s intrasquad game. The outfielder will be the team’s starting center fielder and likely bat at the top of the order for the club.

—No. 1 prospect Adley Rutschman Saturday singled in a run with a hit to center field.

Chicago Cubs

—Cubs’ No. 2 prospect Nico Hoerner Sunday went 1-for-3 and drove in a run in the second inning of the team’s exhibition game against the White Sox with a sacrifice fly to score Willson Contreras. Cubs manager David Ross Saturday told Jordan Bastian of MLB.com that Hoerner and Jason Kipnis would be the team’s primary choices at second base.

Chicago White Sox

Luis Robert, the No. 2 prospect in baseball, Saturday added two more home runs to his summer league count. The center fielder hit his first shot to deep center field and his second to the last row in the left field bleachers. Robert added two more hits, including an RBI double, Sunday in an exhibition game against the Cubs.

Cleveland Indians

—Indians’ No. 22 prospect Yu Chang Saturday added another RBI to his total with a run-scoring single in the eighth inning of the team’s exhibition win over the Pirates.

Colorado Rockies

—Rockies’ No. 6 prospect Sam Hilliard Saturday hit a three-run home run during the team’s intrasquad game after making a diving catch earlier in the game. The outfielder hit seven home runs in just 77 at-bats after he was called up to the major leagues for the first time in late August.

Detroit Tigers

—No. 1 overall pick Spencer Torkelson Friday waited for a 3-2 count before ripping a single into left field to score a run during the Tigers’ intrasquad game.

Kansas City Royals

—Royals’ No. 4 prospect Brady Singer Friday pitched four scoreless innings, striking out three batters, walking none and allowing three hits. With the help of a remodeled changeup joining his plus fastball and slider, the righthander has pitched well during summer camp as he attempts to bypass Triple-A on the way to his major league debut.

Los Angeles Dodgers

—Dodgers’ No. 2 prospect Dustin May Friday struck out five batters over four innings in the team’s intrasquad game. The righthander in his 2019 big league debut went 2-3, 3.63 in 34.2 innings.

—The Dodgers Sunday added three players to their player pool, including No. 8 prospect Kody Hoese—a 2019 first-round pick—and No. 18 prospect Devin Mann

—Dodgers’ No. 12 prospect Mitchell White Sunday in an exhibition game against the Diamondbacks pitched five one-run innings allowing one hit, walking none and striking out two. White in 2020 was scheduled to return to Triple-A after struggling to a 6.50 ERA in 16 games (13 starts) at the level in 2019.

Miami Marlins

—Marlins’ No. 2 prospect JJ Bleday Friday hit a long home run to right field off lefthander Daniel Castano during the team’s intrasquad game. Bleday, an outfielder, hit .257/.311/.379 with three home runs in 140 at-bats at high Class A in his professional debut after getting drafted No. 4 overall in 2019.

—Marlins’ No. 13 prospect Jose Devers Saturday sped around the bases for a triple during the team’s intrasquad game. The shortstop has had trouble staying healthy during his career, appearing in just 187 games over the last three years.

—Outfielder Monte Harrison, the team’s No. 6 prospect, Saturday showed off his plus raw power with a three-run home run to center field. Harrison was expected to make his major league debut in 2019 before a right wrist injury derailed his season, but in 2020 he should make his debut.

Minnesota Twins

—Twins’ No. 2 prospect Alex Kirilloff crushed a home run to left field during the team’s intrasquad game. The outfielder/first baseman in 2019 hit .283/.343/.413 with nine home runs, but was limited to 94 Double-A games due to two wrist injuries.

—Twins’ No. 13 prospect Brent Rooker showed off his plus power with a home run to right-center field. The outfielder/first baseman also missed time in 2019 due to a wrist injury, but hit 14 home runs in just 228 at-bats at Triple-A.

San Francisco Giants

Joey Bart, the Giants’ No. 2 prospect, homered again Friday during the team’s intrasquad game.

Chadwick Tromp Saturday hit a home run and threw out a would-be base stealer at second base during the Giants’ intrasquad game. The 25-year-old continues to make the most of his time with the Giants. He was added to the team’s 60-man player pool after receiving a non-roster invite to spring training.

Seattle Mariners

—Mariners’ No. 3 prospect Evan White Saturday powered a double into left-center field during the team’s intrasquad game.

Jarred Kelenic, the Mariners’ No. 2 prospect, showed off his plus speed that led to him stealing 20 bases in 2019, stealing second base after he reached base via single.

—Mariners’ No. 4 prospect Logan Gilbert pitched two scoreless innings, striking out three batters and allowing one hit—a bunt single. The righthander jumped three levels in 2019 to finish at Double-A, recording a 10-5, 2.13 mark with 165 strikeouts, the 10th most in the minor leagues, and could make his big league debut this season.

St. Louis Cardinals

—Cardinals’ No. 20 prospect Justin Williams Sunday hit a line-drive home run to right field during the team’s intrasquad game. The outfielder sat out the start of the 2019 season after hurting his hand punching a television and was later hampered by hamstring injuries, but should make his Cardinals’ debut sometime this season.
