One of the wisest things coach Rick Heller did when he arrived at Iowa was to land a commitment from Peyton, who was playing his freshman year at Iowa Western CC. In signing Peyton, the Hawkeyes got two recruits in one. Peyton was Iowa's best hitter this year as its first baseman, but he also was a steady starter. Peyton doesn't have a plus pitch, but he has an 88-92 mph fastball, fringe average slider and fringe average changeup and the ability to locate all three. With no true out pitch, Peyton projects as a back-end starter or a reliever in pro ball.
