What Is Your Career Highlight?

My career highlight has been breaking into Minor League Baseball. At times, it was very difficult but when I was hired by the Legends, everything I went through was worth it. Then through that avenue, I have been able to help young girls wanting to break into the industry and was able to bring all the MiLB female broadcasters together this year at an event in Lexington. I’m now so excited to see what is to come during my time with Portland.

What Unseen Parts Of The Job Do You Feel People Should Know About?

There is so much more to this job than just stepping into the broadcast booth each night. My days can consist of social media, pulling tarp, broadcast preparation, corporate sales, graphic design, selling tickets, being the mascot and many other things all before that 7:05 p.m. first pitch. It is an absolute grind, but no two days are the same. That’s the beauty of this industry. You have to constantly be on your toes, but at the end of the day you put on that headset and you watch a baseball game. In my opinion, it’s truly one of the best jobs you can have.

What’s Your Best Story From The Road?

In 2014, I was broadcasting for the Mat-Su Miners, a summer collegiate team in Palmer, Alaska. We were in Fairbanks, Alaska facing the Goldpanners in a historic (and very old) stadium. The WiFI dropped and we were unable to broadcast so we decided to live tweet and post Facebook updates while sitting down by the first base dugout.

Little did we know that mosquitoes in Alaska are not your typical insect. We left the game with over 15 bites on our legs from those little guys. Also, did I mention we were even wearing pants? I didn’t know that was possible for those bugs to attack you through fabric.
