Sanchez played travel ball with 2013 Freshman of the Year Alex Bregman in Albuquerque but wound up at JC of Southern Idaho for his freshman season before transferring back home to New Mexico JC as a sophomore. He's committed to Texas Tech if he doesn''t sign. Scouts are interested in Sanchez but acknowledge he's a tough profile. Slender and speedy for a catcher, he looks more like a middle infielder at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds. He's a legitimate plus runner, with some giving him 70 grades, and he has an above-average arm as well as good hands. Sanchez doesn't impact the ball at the plate with well-below-average power. His receiving behind the plate is quite raw, but his lack of impact potential offensively means he has to stay behind the plate defensively to make it to the big leagues.
