As we continue our look at past Prospect Pad videos, we now look at the White Sox 2B Yoan Moncada, who joined the 2017 Baseball America Prospect Pad.
At the time Moncada was one of the games top prospects and had just been traded as a piece in the blockbuster Chris Sale deal the previous offseason. During the Prospect Pad interview, Moncada talked about the experience of being traded.
Through a translator Moncada said the trade was a big surprise to him. He said that he understands that it is apart of baseball and happens. He just tried to take it in stride.
Not only did Moncada have to transition to a new organization, he had to make the transition to Triple-A. In the Prospect Pad interview Moncada was asked about the difference between Double-A and Triple-A.
“To me it is basically the same. The pitchers have more experience, but baseball is baseball,” Moncada said through a translator.
His numbers would back up his statement as he hit .282/.377/.447 with Triple-A Charlotte and shortly after the interview would be called up to the White Sox for good.
