Looking back at past Prospect Pad interviews, we now highlight our 2016 interview with then Cubs prospect, now White Sox OF Eloy Jimenez. Coming out of the Dominican Republic in 2013, Jimenez was the top ranked international free agent. Although his results early on were good, Jimenez continued to try to improve his game.
“I have improved all my game. The defense part, the offense part, and especially the mental part of the game,” Jimenez said through a translator.
The improvement really showed itself that season, as he went on to hit .329/.369/.532 with 14 homers and continued to dominate the minors up until his debut this year.
Also in the Prospect Pad interview, Jimenez discussed what it meant to be playing in the Futures Game.
“It means a lot to me because I remember three years ago playing on PlayStation playing it, now being here live means a lot to me,” Jimenez said.
The Futures Game is not the only thing Jimenez has done that can be played on PlayStation. He can now play as himself in the game as he will be a key piece of the White Sox outfield for years to come.
