Aaron Judge Customizes Adidas Mother’s Day Cleats
As Adidas plans on more than 150 of its athletes donning on-field Mother’s Day cleats this weekend, highlighted by a traditional tattoo-inspired graphic on the tongue, the newest high-profile name on the Adidas roster, Aaron Judge, customized his own pair of cleats for Mother’s Day.
The 2017 American League Rookie of the year regularly sends his mom strawberries dipped in chocolate for Mother’s Day, so his cleats feature a “Mom” banner wrapped around a chocolate-dipped strawberry on the tongue, along with a matching sockliner with his mom’s initials, PJ. In additional homage to his mom, the laces on Judge’s cleats will feature “Thanks Mom,” a tribute to the time his mother ran onto the field to tie his cleats for him during a T-ball game.
The Adidas Baseball Mother’s Day effort includes the fully customizable, special-edition Adizero Afterburner, personalized via the company’s miadidas site. What Adidas calls the lightest cleat in the game mimics a sneaker profile with an aerodynamic wrap on the foot and a compression bootie for flexibility.
The special-edition customizable Afterburner will become available to the public on the Adidas website June 1 for $120.
