After spending his spring bouncing back and forth between the Mets’ big league camp and the backfields in spring training, Tim Tebow was assigned for his first pro season to low Class A Columbia. On Opening Day, that assignment has suited him well.

In his first at-bat with the Fireflies, Tebow homered to the opposite field at his new home of Spirit Communications Park. The blast came off of Augusta lefthander Domenic Mazza, and it was captured all over the Internet.
