Draft Report: Mike Amditis To Miss 2016 Season
Sources tell Baseball America that Boca Raton (Fla.) High catcher Mike Amditis will miss his senior season after tearing the labrum in his throwing shoulder.
Amditis was hurt on a play at first base at the World Wood Bat Association championships in Jupiter, Fla., last October. Amditis said that it will take about a year for him to fully recover, though he could resume baseball activity in four to six months.
Amditis ranked as the No. 67 prospect in the Preseason High School Top 100. He is a strong receiver and has sound tools across the board. Amditis participated in the Under Armour All-American Game in 2015, and hit a grand slam.
BA’s preseason All-America voting process revealed support for Amditis as one of the better defenders in this year’s high school class.
He is currently rated as the No. 6 catcher in the high school class. He is committed to play college baseball at Miami, should he decide not to play pro ball, depending on where he is drafted.
