High School Top 25: March 23

This week, the Coppell (Texas) High Cowboys rise to the top of Baseball America’s high school rankings. Coppell, armed with arguably the nation’s deepest pitching rotation, has allowed just 20 runs over 16 games so far this season. The Cowboys entered the season with five pitchers committed to Division I programs, with righthanded TCU signee Charles King leading the pack.

Coppell passes Walton, which took its first loss of the season on March 7. Walton will play in this week’s National High School Invitational, where it can prove it belongs at the top of these rankings.

Sitting at No. 6, De La Salle picked up key victories against St. Francis and Elk Grove, two of the top teams in Northern California. Outfielder Armani Smith is off to a solid start, and senior pitchers Nick Sparks and Conner Roberts have hit the ground running.
