School: Lincoln HS, Seattle Source: HS
Commit/Drafted: Auburn
Age At Draft: 18.5
Johnson is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound pitchability lefthander who showed a solid feel for three different pitches during the 2022 Area Code Games. While there, Johnson pitched in the upper 80s with a running fastball and touched 92 while also mixing in a changeup around 80 mph and a slurvy breaking ball in the 79-82 mph range. Johnson throws from a sidearm slot, and because of that the breaking ball has been inconsistent at times, but that same release point adds plenty of horizontal life to both his fastball and changeup—which is currently his more advanced secondary. Johnson doesn’t have the most electric current stuff, so teams might opt to let him get to campus and continue developing at Auburn, but he fits as a mid or late day two draft talent.
