High School Top 25: May 18

Coppell (Texas) High remains atop the Baseball, thanks to arguably the deepest pitching staff in the nation. The Cowboys face Flower Mound this weekend in Texas’s 6A Region 1 quarterfinal. Deer Park (Texas) High, the No. 2 team in the nation, is also in the 6A playoffs, and could face Coppell later in the postseason.

Seven teams jump into this week’s rankings, with Blessed Trinity High (Roswell, Ga.) leading the way at No. 18. The Titans will face Westminster Christian this weekend for the Georgia 3A state championship. Westminster has early-round draft prospect Will Benson, but Blessed Trinity has a strong pitching staff, with two aces in seniors Hayden Lehman and John Michael Bertrand. Auburn signee Conor Davis is Blessed Trinity’s top hitter, showing the ability to hit for both average and power.

No. 8 Walton High will take on No. 13 Pope High this weekend for Georgia’s 6A state championship. Walton is led by senior shortstop Carter Kieboom, while Pope has Josh Lowe. Both of them could be Day 1 picks in next month’s draft, and they are surrounded by Division I-caliber talents.

Hamilton High, No. 21 in these rankings, won Arizona’s Division I title on Tuesday night, beating a very strong Mountain Ridge High team.

These rankings are compiled by a committee of voters from Baseball America and the Baseball Coaches Association. All records are as of May 15.
