LONG BEACH, Calif.—The White Sox remained undefeated at the Area Code Games with a 4-1 win over the Athletics.
Jackson Rutledge (Rockwood Summit High, Fenton, Mo.) started the game for the White Sox and pitched two scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
“I had a little extra adrenaline pumping today,” said Rutledge, who is committed to Arkansas. He said he hopes to improve his off-speed pitches over the summer.
According to BA’s Hudson Belinsky, Rutledge is a physical righthander who throws downhill, and attributed his success to keeping batters off-balance with his changeup.
Jordon Adell (Ballard High, Louisville, Ky.) continued his strong offensive showing with a two-run home run in the second inning. He now has four RBIs in three games.
Ryan Holgate got the Oakland A’s on the board with a double in the third inning.
