College Baseball Rankings Top 25 For April 17
Oregon State’s 23-game winning streak came to an end Thursday at Washington, but the Beavers rallied to win the next two games and claimed the series. As a result, they remain atop the Baseball America Top 25, powered by Louisville Slugger.
Oregon State’s winning streak was the longest in program history and is longest in the country this season. The Beavers are one of five teams to have won 30 games this season, and their 30-2 record is the best in the country.
The top 10 teams remain the same this week, though in a slightly different order. Louisville remains No. 2, and North Carolina, Texas Tech and Clemson round out the top five. Arizona, Texas Christian, Cal State Fullerton, Louisiana State and Auburn complete the top 10.
Three new teams join the Top 25 this week. West Virginia, which won a series against the Horned Frogs, leads the newcomers at No. 21, followed by Texas A&M at No. 23 and Houston at No. 24. It is West Virginia’s first-ever appearance in the Top 25. Houston returns to the rankings after a two- week’s absence and Texas A&M is back for the first time since March 13.
Falling out of the Top 25 are South Carolina, Stanford and Connecticut. All three had losing weekends.
The Southeastern Conference leads all conferences with seven teams in the rankings. The Atlantic Coast Conference follows with five representatives.
The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through April 16 and do not include ties.
