The Top 25 High School teams this week look much different than our last ranking, but you wouldn’t know that if you only looked at the top three teams, all of which stayed the same: Huntington Beach (Calif.) High sticks at No. 1 after winning the Boras Classic on May 6; No. 2 Shawnee (Okla.) just completed a perfect season and won its third straight Oklahoma 5A State Championship; and No. 3 Archbishop McCarthy plays in the Florida 6A semifinal Tuesday night.

While the top three teams remained solid, the field shifted hugely after that, with eight teams falling out of the Top 25 thanks in large part to playoff eliminations. The Georgia playoffs, specifically, proved a challenge for teams in the Top 25, as Parkview High (Lilburn, Ga.), Winder-Barrow (Ga.) High and Allatoona High (Acworth, Ga.) all fell out of the top 25 after being within the top 13 teams in our last ranking.
Additionally, West Monroe (La.) High fell from No. 4 to unranked after losing in the Louisiana 5A state championship, while Basha High (Chandler, Ariz.) dropped from No. 10 to unranked after losing to Pinnacle (Phoenix) and Boulder Creek (Anthem, Ariz.) in the Arizona 6A State Tournament. Basha entered as the top seed and failed to win a game.
With the playoff shake up, eight teams entered the Top 25 this week, with No. 12 Mosley High (Lynn Haven, Fla.) being the top team among newcomers. Mosley topped West Florida (Pensacola, Fla.) 9-0 in the regional quarterfinal and will play Gulf Breeze (Fla.) High Tuesday night in the semifinal.
